When will recruitment for 2022 start?

The funds intended for co-financing home photovoltaic installations were distributed at a record pace this year and for this reason, recruitment for the “Mój Prąd 3.0” program was closed on October 6, i.e. just over three months after the start of this project. For this reason, those of you who want to set up your own photovoltaics and benefit from funding will have to wait for the call for applications in the fourth edition of “Mój Prąd”.

Guaranteed return

Currently, the Moje Prąd priority program covers the years 2021-2023, which allows us to predict that not only 2022 will be an opportunity to install an installation, although it is the last whistle to install photovoltaics on the current principles, i.e. on the principle of net-metering, well known to current Polish prosumers. . The changes announced in the energy law will be introduced on April 1, and not, as previously expected, at the beginning of the year. This gives a chance to those who decided to install photovoltaics at the last minute and who will not be able to complete the investment by the end of this year.

The next edition of the Moje Prąd program is also supported by the promises of the government, which has repeatedly assured us of the continuation of the now iconic program for refinancing expenditure on micro-installations. So what can we expect from the fourth edition of Moje Prąd, which is the reason why the photovoltaics sector in Poland is developing so quickly?

Adaptation to changes in law

The novelties that we can look forward to in the Moje Prąd 4.0 program are directly related to the above-mentioned changes in energy law and will constitute an adaptation to the new rules of cooperation between the prosumer and the energy company. First of all, from April 1, anyone who installs photovoltaics will no longer give energy surpluses free of charge to the power plant and will collect them, e.g. in winter, and will pay the rest of the consumption above the produced standard in accordance with the price list. The new rules based on net-billing assume the sale of surpluses at the average price from the last month on the Day Ahead Market and then the purchase of energy in situations of reduced installation efficiency. We cannot count on 1:1 balancing, the purchase prices of energy for our homes will be the same prices for all recipients, including the distribution fee, taxes and all other costs, regardless of whether the household has its own power source or is in fully dependent on the general network.

"My Current 4.0" - what's new

What is almost certain now is that the fourth edition of the program will follow the assumptions initially made for the 2021 version, so the reimbursement of costs incurred is to include, in addition to the PV installation itself, energy storage facilities, cooling and heat storage facilities, energy management systems and charging stations for electric cars.

Due to the aforementioned changes in the prosumer billing system, those in power want to raise the program’s subsidy threshold, with the proviso, however, that the reimbursement will be in the order of 25-50% of the storage price, although this is not official information, only speculation at the planning stage. It is also possible that the amount of reimbursement that can be obtained will depend entirely on the amount of costs incurred for the investment, and not – as before – equal for everyone.

When will recruitment for 2022 start?

The official date has still not been announced, but the Minister of Climate and Environment, Ireneusz Zyska, declared in one of the interviews that the government is targeting the first quarter of 2022, so this will be the earliest edition of “Mój Prąd” to start so far.

Considering the popularity of the program, there is a fear that the money from the fund will not be enough for long, but everything indicates that “Mój Prąd 2022” will be financed from separate funds than the PLN 534 million allocated for 2021-2023. What exactly will this financing look like? We will have to wait for this news and we will probably get an answer only when the recruitment process starts, because there is still a lot of noise about the program and those in power do not agree on its final shape.
